. the u.s. now part of efforts to hammer out a cease-fire in gaza as the fighting intensifies on both sides. good morning i'm jon scott. jenna: hi, everybody i'm jenna lee. air raid sirens wailing in jerusalem. [sirens blaring] jenna: you may hear those sirens, we don't hear them often over jerusalem. this is after hamas fired off a rocket aimed at the holy city. folks on your screen running for cover. word today that that rocket hit the west bank and thankfully didn't cause any injuries. the rocket, just one of the more than 1200 from hamas fired at the jewish state since a week ago. israel is targeting key hamas sites as well firing artillery shells into gaza today and going after rocket and mortar teams all along the border. all of this happening as president obama dispatched secretary of state hillary clinton to the mideast, in jerusalem, ramallah and gaza. we will start with leland vittert on the israel-gaza border. >> reporter: there are multiple reports from senior israeli officials that there will be a cease-fire deal some time in the next 12 hours. you would think that would

the purchase of a british company. we will have all of the details. good morning. thanks for being with us. i am marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. hp hitting investors with shock treatment claiming it was a victim of financial fraud. it says it was fooled into buying a british company last year which was a mistake for $11 billion. according to scott mcgrew, it was the not just a mistake, but a disaster. you have had a couple of hours to digest it. how ugly is it? >> it will be talked about in business schools for years. it will be hard to imagine that if these allegations are true, there will not be some sort of criminal charges. during a routine financial flying, hp said the company it bought last fall deliberately hid how much profit and someone cooked the books. it is an incredibly serious allegation. hp has launched an investigation of what it calls forensic accounting and notified the u.s. government. >> we believe there is a willful effort on the part of autonomy management to mislead shareholders and mislead potential buyers, including hp. we stand by the review that we have seen. as yo

, thanks so much. >>> joining us from tel aviv is nbc news correspondent martin fletcher. from your perspective, what are israeli authorities saying about the potential of a cease-fire coming this hour? >> reporter: well, you know, the israelis have been saying all along, pouring cold water on to the reports which have come from arab sources that an agreement and a truce was going to be signed this evening. there was one radio report that said senior israeli officials said it would happen, but otherwise, there's been silence. the only thing that's come out from the israeli sources is that the deal is not wrapped up and that there is still a long way to go. very important issue. as ayman mentioned. i think the key is the sound bite from prime minister netanyahu. he's calling for a long-term solution through diplomatic means if possible. what he means if it isn't possible there's still the ground force invasion on the ground, it's still an option until that's a deal. there isn't yet a deal. it very close, it appears, but it appears it's not as close as the sources who are saying that
